Knill James Cricket Day
A marquee-full of local business people were treated to a long lunch, the chance for a good chat and a fine game of cricket as Lewes-based accountants and sponsors of Lewes Priory cricket club Knill James hosted their biennial event at the club on Wednesday 18 June. Former West Indian test star Collis King led an invitation Knill James XI, which included a number of local club cricketers, against a Lewes Priory XI. No-one was quite sure if King was actually a client, but he didn’t appear to be short of professional advice as he swotted balls to the boundary from behind his legs. Move over Kevin Pietersen. But despite setting a reasonable target of 211, the Knill James XI were undone by some excellent batting from Priory, which included a quick-fire century from man-of-the-match Ed McGregor. Fittingly it was Andrew Hartridge, son of a Knill James client, who applied the finishing touches to a run chase that was always on track.
