“I love working in a team with a wide range of expertise, as it means you can be sure someone will be able to help if you need it. The people are all super friendly and supportive and everyone is easy to talk to. Also the work load is really varied and there’s always something new to learn!”

Ryan, Accounts Trainee, joined in August 2021 and currently studying for the ICAEW level 7 (ACA) on an apprenticeship scheme.

“If you do well and demonstrate a willingness to learn then there is a clear career path for you here with real opportunities for progression. There’s also a good range of work with some interesting challenges and I’ve learnt so many things that I never expected to. A real plus is the great team spirit, and the partners have always been very supportive.”

Leanne, Director, joined in 2008 and qualified at Knill James.

“Prior to joining Knill James, I worked in the music education sector. I wanted to change careers to have a new challenge with clear career development and this was something Knill James offered me. The support with my training has been great and having all the other trainees at different points in their studies really helps to give you extra support and guidance.”

Joe, Accounts Trainee, joined in February 2021and currently studying for the ICAEW level 7 (ACA) on an apprenticeship scheme.

“When I joined the firm I had no experience in accounts or finance, but Knill James encouraged and supported my studies, and I recently completed my final exams to become a Chartered Tax Adviser. Over time I have been given my own portfolio of clients and my colleagues have always been supportive and dedicated to my success. There are always new opportunities and I’m encouraged to pursue the areas that are interesting to me”

Gemma, Senior Tax Adviser, joined in September 2018 and qualified at Knill James.

“The support throughout my placement year was unmatched - there was always a manager or partner I could speak openly to when I was struggling with the work. I was exposed to a wide range of tax work and even explored different departments, which expanded my knowledge and is really helping me with my university modules. I have come out with so much - new knowledge, friends and most of all confidence in talking and interacting with people I don't know.”

Emily, Tax Trainee, joined July 2023 having done a work placement at Knill James from July 2021-July 2022 while studying at Brighton University
