Budget & Statements

The new Autumn Budget and Spring Statement.

In the 2016 autumn Statement, Chancellor Philip Hammond announced a major shake-up of the government’s budget framework, which saw the scrapping of the Autumn Statement and the introduction of a new Autumn Budget.

Since 2017, the main annual budget has taken place in the autumn, with a Spring Statement in the following year. However, the November 2019 Budget was cancelled due to uncertainty over Brexit.
