Knill James advises on the sale of Portsdown to Showcase Interiors

Knill James is delighted to announce that its corporate finance team has advised the shareholders of Portsdown on the sale of their company to Showcase Interiors, an independent furniture dealership based in Essex.

Portsdown provides workspace design and consultancy and furniture specification, procurement and installation, predominantly servicing commercial offices and the education and public sectors. Its reputation for service delivery and the strong client base will complement Showcase's portfolio of similar service offerings, assisting in the company's growth plans.

The transaction, led by Kirsty Wilson and Catherine Lambeth of Knill James, secures successful outcomes for the shareholders Leo and Will Kelly, whose father founded the business in 1983. Leo will remain with the company for the foreseeable future along with the company's FD, Paul Lelliott, with Will pursuing different ventures.

Kirsty Wilson, Corporate Finance Director at Knill James, commented: 'It was a pleasure to advise Will and Leo on the sale of the family business and to see them realise the value of their hard work. It is an exciting time for Portsdown, with Showcase being a great fit. I am confident the business will continue to go from strength to strength. Congratulations to all.'

Leo Kelly, commented: 'The Corporate Finance team at Knill James supported us brilliantly throughout the process, successfully achieving the different outcomes we each wanted post sale. Kirsty and Catherine's expert negotiation secured the best possible deal for us and our clients will benefit from the increased skillset arising from merging our two companies.'

Legal advice was provided to the shareholders by Jeremy Parkes from Field Seymour Parkes.
